On September 3rd, 2024, at 4:39 am Friendship Fire Company of Geigertown along with mutual aid were dispatched by the Berks County 911 Center to Interstate176 southbound for an auto accident with entrapment.

Friendship Fire Company of Geigertown units and mutual aid made the response and were advised by the Berks County 911 Center that the caller reported a tractor trailer overturned, and the driver was trapped.

A Tower Direct supervisor was the first arriving unit to confirm an overturned tractor trailer with no entrapment and a diesel fuel leak. Friendship Fire Company of Geigertown Chief (Gullo) arrived and assumed command of the incident and confirmed a small fuel leak. Ambulance 89 and Tower Direct personnel arrived and worked collaboratively together on patient care. The Fire company units arrived and controlled the hazards on the tractor trailer. Notifications were made to PennDot due to extensive road closure as the accident scene was blocking both southbound lanes.

Ambulance 89-1 and Tower Direct Paramedics transported one patient to an area hospital. Friendship Fire Company of Geigertown units remained on the scene to assist with traffic control and to await the arrival of a tow company.
