Accident With Entrapment In West Nantmeal Township Involving A Tractor Trailer

On January 6th, 2025, at 9:58 Twin Valley Fire Department along with Elverson-Honey Brook EMS were dispatched to mile marker 301.6 East Bound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for an auto accident.

Twin Valley Fire Department units along with Ambulance 189 made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a tractor trailer on its side over an embankment. The Turnpike Commission arrived to confirm the report and also confirmed entrapment which added Tower Direct Paramedics (Micu 93) to the call.

Twin Valley Fire Department units arrived and assumed command of the incident and started extrication of 2 subjects from the tractor trailer. Ambulance 189 and Micu 93 arrived and started patient care on the trapped subjects. The command requested an Engine be dispatched out of the Glenmoore Fire Company for additional manpower due to an extended extrication. Engine 48-1 was advised to enter the scene from a property in the 300 block of N. Manor Road to best access the accident.

Twin Valley Fire Department personnel extricated the 1st subject at 10:40 and the 2nd subject was extricated 11:36. Ambulance 189 and Micu 93 transported 1 subject to an area trauma center for their injuries. Unfortunately the other subject succumb to their injuries as a result of the accident. The Officers and Members of Elverson-Honey Brook EMS wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims family and to the responders affected by this tragedy.

Ambulance 189 cleared the call at 13:32.
